To celebrate 35 years of supporting young people at risk Youth Concern launched it’s Corporate Sponsorship Scheme.
Youth Concern is looking for 35 local businesses to join the charity’s new sponsorship scheme, which has been promoted by the Bucks Herald.
“We’re asking businesses to pledge at least £10/month, because a small amount of money goes a long way” says Fran, CEO of Youth Concern. “Over the past year, we have provided practical and emotional support to 535 vulnerable young people, most of which face multiple disadvantages such as homelessness, abuse, neglect, poverty, bereavement, mental health and substance misuse”.
Youth Concern provided:
- 88 young people facing homelessness with emergency accommodation
- 232 hours of counselling to young people in emotional distress
- 50 young people with substance misuse prevention support sessions
- 462 Music Studio sessions, developping skills and raising aspirations
- 50 young people with employment support, 27 of whom moved into work or education
A young person’s story
“I feel the support I received from Youth Concern was excellent-it helped me focus on a future and changed my life for the better”
Andrew had recently become homeless, had been in prison and had mental health issues. Tragically, he suffered the bereavement of his 18-month daughter and turned to drugs as an escape. With the help of free, intensive support from Youth Concern, Andrew is re-building his life. He now has secure accommodation, is in full-time work and has stopped using drugs.
