Youth Homeless Accommodation

We are currently working on a new youth homeless supported accommodation project called ‘The Next Step’. This project will provide a safe home for up to 20 young people a year who are experiencing homelessness. In addition we will offer support around health, skills, employment and resettlement.

We have raised more than 94% of the £1m needed to set up the ‘The Next Step’. We just recently completed our online crowdfunder, raising £235,510 towards this project with donations from the local community and grants from Aylesbury Vale District Council, Oxford Health Charity and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. We are very grateful for this support and it is a massive step forward to making this vital project a reality.

Now we need YOUR help to raise the final £64k and enable vulnerable young people to rebuild their lives.

If you would like to be part of this exciting project there are  2 easy ways you can get involved right now:

1) Fundraise for us

We are so grateful for all the wonderful fundraising efforts so far: Wingrave Festive Run, New Year’s Chilterns Walk, Halifax bag packing at Tesco, gig night, Big Band Swing concert, Wendover pop-up charity shop and many more. But we need more fundraisers and more fundraising ideas.

Just email us with your ideas admin@youthconcern.org.uk

2) Become a corporate supporter

See our packages here

Through ‘The Next Step’ project, Youth Concern will provide:

  • A 10-bed youth homeless supported accommodation scheme
  • 1:1 support packages, counselling & business mentoring
  • Support to make a smooth transition to independent living

We are delighted that one of our current local funders, the Thomas Hickman Charity, is in the process of purchasing beautiful premises for us to run the project from. We will convert the building into a 10-bed home, under the lead of an organisation called COSPA/ViY. As an added benefit some of our young people will be involved in the conversion work, earning qualifications and gaining valuable employment skills!

We are so grateful for the positive response we have had from local people, organisations and businesses who have already pledged their support. With your help, we know that we can make this vital project a reality for homeless young people in Aylesbury.
